A tragic road accident occurred near the Bhera Interchange on the Lahore–Islamabad Motorway when a private passenger bus heading from Lahore to Islamabad crashed early Wednesday morning, leaving three people dead and over 20 others injured, according to rescue and hospital sources.
Eyewitnesses said the accident happened when the bus lost control and rammed into a truck before hitting a roadside tree.
They claimed the mishap likely occurred because the driver dozed off while driving.
Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the site and shifted the injured and deceased to THQ Hospital Bhera.
Hospital sources confirmed that the bus driver and a hostess died on the spot, while one passenger succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
Among the injured were two women, several of whom were reported to be in critical condition.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, while the motorway police temporarily restricted traffic flow at the accident site to facilitate rescue operations.
