Five PESCO employees ‘kidnapped’ in Bannu

Five employees of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) were allegedly kidnapped in Bannu, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.

Federal Minister for Power Owais Leghari has written a letter to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on the matter.

According to the report, PESCO employees were performing official duties on a feeder of 11 KV Bakakhel when they were kidnapped. They were busy disconnecting connections of defaulting consumers and recovering dues.

At around 1:00 PM on Friday, unknown men took these PESCO employees with them. So far, no information has been received about their whereabouts, Owais Leghari said in his letter. He said that circumstances surrounding the PESCO employees' disappearance are very worrying.

An initial complaint has been registered at the local police station and an investigation is under way.

The federal minister asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister to intervene in the matter and ensure recovery of the kidnapped PESCO employees. All resources should be used for the recovery of the PESCO employees, he said.

The federal minister also sent a copy of the letter to the chief secretary and inspector general of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.
