The federal government has assigned the additional charge of Secretary Health to Secretary Power Division Dr Muhammad Fakhre Alam Irfan for a period of three months, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The additional charge of Federal Secretary Health was taken back from Captain ® Mohammad Mehmood, who is also serving as Federal Secretary Housing.
It is necessary to mention here that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had suspended the Federal Secretary of Health Aslam Ghouri, after the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) tragedy in which 14 babies had died.
The additional charge has been assigned under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, for three months or until a regular secretary is appointed, whichever comes earlier. The appointment takes effect immediately.
The development follows the Cabinet Secretariat’s decision to suspend Aslam Ghauri, a BS-22 officer of the Secretariat Group who was serving as Health Secretary.
Ghauri has been suspended under Rule 5 of the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020, for an initial period of 120 days with immediate effect.
