The Balochistan Assembly on Monday approved several pieces of legislation, including the draft law for the Balochistan Labour and Personnel Court, the SEZ Pakistanis Commission Bill 2026, amendments to Balochistan Universities law and an anti-begging bill.
The legislative measures were presented by Members of the Assembly Zarin Magsi, Saleem Khosa and Wali Muhammad Noorzai and were unanimously passed by the House.
The session, chaired by Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, began with a delay of 35 minutes. During proceedings, lawmakers also raised concerns over a recent incident in Nushki.
On a point of order, MPA Agha Umar Ahmed Zai highlighted that a young man who had come to donate blood in Nushki was allegedly killed by police, calling for the formation of a committee to investigate the incident.
Younis Zehri questioned the authority of the Eagle Squad, asking who had empowered them to carry out killings, and stressed that suspects should be produced before courts. Rehmat Saleh Baloch acknowledged the sacrifices of police in the fight against terrorism but demanded the arrest of those responsible for the incident.
Samad Gurgaj warned that failure to address such incidents could lead to tribal conflicts, while Asad Baloch called for justice for innocent people.
Responding to the concerns, Interior Minister Ziaullah Lango informed the House that Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti had taken notice of the incident and assured that action would be taken against those responsible.
Chief Minister Bugti reiterated that an inquiry was underway and said strict action would follow once findings are complete. He added that compensation would be provided to the heirs of the deceased after the inquiry, and further steps would be taken following the post-mortem report. He also emphasized that police performance should be acknowledged where positive.
The Assembly also offered Fateha for those killed in Khalid Sasoli and Hazarganji.
