The Lahore Sports Wing emerged as the overall champion in both men’s and women’s categories at the Punjab Police Annual Inter-District Weightlifting Championship 2026, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.
According to officials, Lahore secured first place in the final standings, followed by the Anti-Riot Force (ARF) in second position and the Elite Force in third.
The championship also served as a platform for the department’s New Talent Hunt Programme, with several young officers delivering notable performances.
Among the emerging names were Sharib, Roman, and Haider from ARF, along with Tahir from the Investigation branch and Ahmed from the RMP unit.
In individual categories, gold medals were claimed by Shamim Haider of Sadr Division, Muniba Imtiaz, and Hira Khan from the Telecommunications wing.
The Best Weightlifter award was presented to Bilal Khan in recognition of his outstanding performance and consistency.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by senior police officials, including SP Headquarters Munaza Karamat, who awarded medals and trophies to the winners.
Other attendees included DSP Sports Officer Mahmood-ul-Hassan, DSP Masood-ul-Rehman, former international weightlifter and Pakistan powerlifting team captain Aqeel Javed Butt, and national weightlifting coach Kashif Ali.
