The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered 2,993 new companies in March, reflecting an 11% increase compared to the same month last year, according to official data.
With the latest additions, the total number of registered companies in Pakistan has reached 290,041. The newly incorporated firms reported a combined paid-up capital of Rs2.80 billion, highlighting continued investor confidence in the country’s corporate sector.
The SECP stated that private limited companies accounted for 57% of the new registrations, while single-member companies made up 39%, indicating a strong preference for these business structures among entrepreneurs.
Region-wise, Punjab led the growth with 1,488 new companies, followed by 552 registrations in Islamabad, 447 in Sindh, and 233 in Gilgit-Baltistan. Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded 224 new companies and Balochistan saw 49 registrations.
Sector-wise, the information technology and e-commerce segment topped the list, with 606 new companies registered during the month, underscoring the rapid digital transformation of the economy.
The SECP also noted foreign investment in 58 newly registered companies, with investors from China, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States participating, reflecting sustained international interest in Pakistan’s business landscape.
