A 14-year-old madrassa student died under suspicious circumstances in Sargodha’s Kot Momin area with police suspecting severe torture by a teacher.

The tragic incident sparked public outrage in the area and prompted police investigation.

According to police, the incident took place at Madrassa Saddiquia Moazzamiya in Moazzamabad in Kot Momin tehsil. Muhammad Asif, a resident of Kalor Sharif village, Tehsil Lalian, Chiniot district, was enrolled at the madrassa for the past three years to memorize the holy Quran.

The child’s family was reportedly called by the madrassa administration and told that his condition was critical. However, when they arrived, Asif was already dead inside an ambulance. Police confirmed that his body was found with a noose around his neck and bore clear signs of violence.

Rescue teams moved the body to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Police have registered a murder case at the Kot Momin Police Station on the complaint of the victim’s father.

Last month, a tragic incident shook place in Swat, where a 12-year-old madrassa student reportedly died due to severe torture allegedly inflicted by his teachers. According to police officials, Farhan was brutally beaten by the teachers of a religious seminary for being absent from classes. The child was shifted to a hospital in critical condition but was declared dead upon arrival.

Khwazakhela Police Station also registered a case against seven more madrassa teachers after complaints were lodged by two other children. All 10 individuals faced charges related to the death of Farhan and the abuse of students.
