Two police men were gun downed and three others were injured in Lahore on Thursday night, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
According to rescue officials, the first firing incident took place in Badami Bagh police limits. Sub Inspector Adeel and head constable Asad who were performing duties at Lorri Adda, were targeted by assailants mainly Rehan Butt and others.
After Badami Bagh incident, the armed attackers also opened fire on police men in Nawan Kot area and injured three others.
The police have constituted multiple teams to arrest the suspects. Teams comprising the Operations and Investigation wings, the CCD, and law enforcement agencies have been formed. Strict checkpoints have been established at the city's entry and exit points to apprehend the suspects. A special team is monitoring the suspects' movements, according to police sources.
CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana visited Sheikh Zayed Hospital to inquire after the injured cops. He directed that injured should be provided with the best possible medical treatment.CCPO Lahore ordered the immediate arrest of the suspects involved in the firing. "The elements involved in both incidents will be arrested soon and handed exemplary punishment," stated Bilal Siddique Kamyana.
Earlier, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran told media that police and forensic teams were collecting evidences of the incident.
Faisal Kamran said police men gave their lives while performing their duties. He made it clear that police will hunt the criminals and they will be brought to justice.
He said investigations were underway to identify other unidentified suspects involved in the shooting as SP City has been tasked with the immediate arrest of the suspects.
