The Sindh High Court has issued notices to human rights secretary, deputy attorney general and federal government seeking their reply on the Diyat and Qisas payment issue to prisoners, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

SHC Justice Salahuddin Pinhor on Tuesday heard a petition filed by prisoners who were unable to make their Diyat and Qisas payments.

The interior and law secretaries appeared before the court.

While hearing the case, the court inquired why the welfare funds of the prisoners were not being released by the authorities.

Justice Pinhor deplored that no one was looking into the affairs of the jail inmates. He said it was a common man’s problem and ordered to solve it.

He inquired of interior and law secretaries where the implementation report was. He asked them whether they had established the welfare funds for the prisoners.

The interior secretary informed the court that a law was promulgated in 2011 regarding Diyat and Qasas payment to the jail inmates.

Hearing this, the court issued notices to human rights secretary, deputy attorney general and federal government and asked them to submit their replies by January 28.
