A 32-year-old trader lost his life after being electrocuted while attempting to catch his prized pet parrot in the Indian city of Bengaluru, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.
According to police, the incident occurred in the Giri Nagar area of the city.
The deceased was identified as Arun Kumar, who owned a pet macaw parrot valued at approximately Rs 250,000.
According to police, the parrot flew out of the house on Friday morning and perched on a nearby electricity pole.
In an effort to bring the bird back, Arun climbed onto the compound wall of his house while holding an iron pipe.
During the rescue attempt, the iron pipe accidentally came into contact with a high-voltage power line, resulting in a severe electric shock.
Arun lost balance and fell from the wall after being electrocuted.
A senior police officer said that Arun was trying to save his parrot when the iron pipe suddenly touched the high-voltage line, causing the fatal accident.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.
