Wanted hardcore criminal gunned down in Rawalpindi shootout

A hardcore criminal wanted in numerous cases of murder, abduction and torture, having a modus operandi of kidnapping citizens, stripping them naked, subjecting them to immoral and inhuman treatment and post their videos on social media, was gunned down in a police encounter in Rawalpindi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

A Crime Control Department (CCD) team said that the accused, who was later identified as Bilal Abbas, has become a terror symbol in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi and was wanted by the police in different criminal cases such as abduction, murder, torture and harassment cases.

The accused also used to extort money after kidnapping the citizens and also grabbed the land under the guise of ransom.

Faisalabad police encounter

An accused was arrested in an injured condition, and two of his accomplices escaped from the scene during a police encounter on Rashidabad-Jhang Road in the jurisdiction of Airport Police Station in Faisalabad.

According to details, a CCD team raided a location to apprehend the accused. After noticing the police team, the accused opened fire on them.

During the exchange of fire, one accused, who was identified as Muaz alias Urafnama, received serious bullet injuries, and two of his companions fled away.

Police also recovered arms from his possession and shifted him to the local hospital for treatment.

A search operation is underway to arrest the fleeing accused.
