ASI killed in Cholistan Jeep Rally; case registered against racer

A police officer was killed during the Cholistan Jeep Rally when a vehicle driven by racer Faisal Shadikhail went off track and struck him, prompting authorities to file a case against the driver, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday. 

The incident occurred near Qila Jamgarh, close to Ak Wala Toba, when the jeep, numbered 112, allegedly lost control.

According to the report submitted to Police Station Marot, the vehicle mounted the track and hit the officer on duty.

The deceased has been identified as ASI Muhammad Bashir, who was posted at Farid City Police Station.

His body was transferred to a hospital following the accident.

The legal petition stated that the driver’s negligence led to the fatal incident and sought action under Sections 322 and 277 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The police have formally registered the request for a case against Faisal Shadikhail.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident to determine accountability and ensure compliance with safety regulations during motorsport events in the region.
