The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reconstituted its administration committee, removing Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro and inducting Justice Muhammad Asif as a member, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
According to an official notification, the newly formed four-member administration committee will function under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar. The notification regarding the committee’s reconstitution has formally come into effect.
In a parallel development, the officers’ selection board of the Islamabad High Court has also been restructured. Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro has been removed from the board, and a new selection board comprising Justice Azam Khan and Justice Inam Amin Minhas has been constituted.
The selection board is responsible for the recruitment and promotions of Islamabad High Court officers in grade 16 and above, making it a key administrative body within the court’s institutional framework.
The notifications were issued by the Registrar of the Islamabad High Court with the approval of Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar, officials confirmed.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro, born on September 12, 1975, is currently serving as a judge of the Islamabad High Court following his transfer from the Sindh High Court on February 1, 2025.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro was appointed as an additional judge in April 2023 and took oath as a permanent judge on April 14, 2024.
Under the Islamabad High Court (Amendment) Act, 2024, the Islamabad High Court comprises 12 judges in addition to the Chief Justice.
The mandatory retirement age for both the Chief Justice and judges is 62 years, while additional judges are initially appointed for one year, after which their tenure may be extended, confirmed, or terminated.
