It has been decided to end water supply through tankers and hydrants in Karachi as Mayor Murtaza Wahab has issued instructions to the top officials of the Water Corporation for an alternative system, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Murtaza Wahab on Tuesday directed that all hydrants in the city should be gradually removed and water should be provided through pipelines.

Arrangements should be made to provide water to the citizens at their doorsteps through pipelines, Murtaza Wahab directed.

He said water hydrants generate a monthly revenue of Rs300 million. Mayor Karachi said the contract for water hydrants expired last year.

He said we will not issue new contracts but will get rid of the tankers of the citizens.

The water shortage in the city will be met by providing water to every area on alternate days, Mayor Karachi said.

He said providing water through tankers is not a permanent solution and citizens are facing difficulties.
