Karachi's District Central Police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested within 24 hours a man allegedly involved in the theft of 60 tola gold from a house in North Nazimabad.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Central, Dr Anam Tajamul, a case was registered yesterday after the complainant reported that his house had been burgled while he was away performing Umrah. Upon returning home, the complainant found the doors broken and discovered that 60 tola gold and cash were missing.
Dr Anam Tajamul said that immediately after the registration of the case, the investigation team became active and obtained CCTV footage from the area. During analysis of the footage, a suspect was identified who appeared familiar with the house and had been visiting it previously.
The suspect was taken into custody for questioning, during which he revealed that the stolen gold and other valuables were kept at his friend’s house. The accused was later identified as Faisal.
Police investigations revealed that Faisal’s father had previously worked as a plumber at the complainant’s house. After his father’s death, Faisal continued visiting the house for work, which allowed him to gain familiarity with the premises.
According to SSP Investigation Central, the accused entered the house twice and carried out the theft.
Police have recovered the stolen items and further legal action is underway.
