Terming Pakistan a future hero, European Union Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Riina Kionka has said Pakistan has full capacity to overcome its problems.
Talking to 24NewsHD exclusively, she said Pakistan is moving in the right direction in trade and international relations.
“Pakistan’s relations with European Union are improving with each passing day,” she remarked.
Dr Riina Kionka said that the facility of GSP Plus for Pakistan is still intact and Pakistan has priority in accessing exports to European markets.
However, she warned Pakistan will have to ensure the observance and implementation of international labor laws and rights.
“The European Union is watching the situation of international labor laws and rights in Pakistan,” she cautioned.
She said if GSP Plus suffers, this will harm the exports of Pakistan.
“In such a situation, the business class in Europe will also be affected. The European Union Monitoring Commission is monitoring the situation,” she advised.
Dr. Riina Kionka said that the European Union is working on smart dams in Pakistan.
“Since 2000, the European Union has invested 1.2 billion euros and presently the European Union has invested 262 million euros in Pakistan.
The European Union is going to start more dams and power projects in Gilgit- Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Dr. Riina Kionka said that the EU has already invested 121 million in joint projects. “There is also a partnership in most of the European Union projects in Pakistan.”
