The Pakistan Wrestling Federation (PWF) successfully held its elections at the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) House, resulting in the unopposed election of all office bearers, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to the channel report, Chaudhry Arshad Sattar has been elected as the President, while former world wrestling champion Inam Butt has taken charge as the Secretary. Muhammad Riaz has been elected as Treasurer, and Chaudhry Mobeen will serve as Chairman of the body.
In a historic move, the PWF’s newly elected team includes women members for the first time, marking a step forward in gender inclusion within the sport.
Newly elected Senior Vice President Hafsa Shoaib expressed her happiness at her election, promising initiatives to promote wrestling across the country.
“It’s a proud moment. I will work tirelessly to promote wrestling and bring more talent into the sport,” she stated.
Both President Arshad Sattar and Secretary Inam Butt also vowed to revitalise wrestling in Pakistan, with a focus on grassroots development and national-level talent hunts.
“Our priority is to take Pakistan wrestling forward and discover new champions,” said Arshad Sattar.
“We will use our experience to build a strong foundation for upcoming athletes,” added Inam Butt.
The elections were held in the presence of officials from the Pakistan Olympic Association and the Pakistan Sports Board. Following the electoral process, the new office bearers extended their gratitude to the General House and pledged to bring new energy and professionalism to the sport.
