Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, tribal elders and religious scholars have dismissed the " Abraham Accord” as un-Islamic and declared it unacceptable.
They were speaking at a tribal jirga organized by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) held in Peshawar on Sunday to address the pressing concerns of the tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The participants expressed their concerns over rising insecurity and the lack of effective representation of the local populace of tribal districts.
Prominent figures who addressed the jirga included Maulana Jamaluddin, Maulana Abdul Rasheed, Malik Nasrullah Khan, Malik Shaheen, Malik Khan Marjan, Mufti Baitullah, Malik Nader Manan, Abdul Khaliq Pathan, Mufti Misbah Uddin (MNA), Malik Shireen, and Dr G Jamal.
The participants presented a series of recommendations and concerns, culminating in a detailed joint declaration.
The declaration expressed deep sorrow and alarm over the increasing incidents of terrorism and targeted killings in the tribal districts.
It called on the federal and provincial governments to implement effective security measures to protect lives and restore peace in the region.
The jirga also voiced reservations over the newly established committee for the restoration of the traditional jirga system, questioning its legitimacy and transparency.
It stressed that any decision regarding tribal affairs made without the consent and representation of the local populace would be unacceptable.
The declaration urged that Pashtun leadership and tribal elders be reconvened to devise a clear and effective future strategy for the region.
The jirga categorically rejected what it termed as the "flawed" spatial mapping decisions affecting the tribal districts, stating they were made without local consultation and were detrimental to the interests of the people.
Moreover, the jirga opposed the "Manzil Apna" development plan, labeling it as against the national and tribal interests.
