Kelly Clarkson made a powerful comeback to the stage on Friday night as she officially launched her long-awaited Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, just one week after sparking fan backlash for cancelling the opening shows with less than two hours’ notice.

The Because of You hitmaker, 43, kicked off her Studio Sessions series with a heartfelt apology to fans during the show. In a video shared by a concertgoer on TikTok, Clarkson addressed the audience, saying, “Man, I'm so sorry if some of y’all had [tickets to] last weekend's shows. We can’t help our bodies sometimes... but thank you for showing up. We’re so excited.”

Clarkson had left fans disappointed after abruptly postponing her July 4 and 5 performances due to vocal strain caused by intense rehearsals. The eleventh-hour cancellation sparked frustration, particularly from those who had flown into Las Vegas, with some saying they were informed of the change just 90 minutes before showtime.

Now back in full force, Clarkson dazzled the crowd with her vocals and her unique stage concept, a studio-themed setup adorned with family photos, warm lighting, green plants, and a live band. “I love being in the studio,” she said, explaining the inspiration behind the design. “There’s nothing like getting in with a bunch of musicians and just vibing.”

The Grammy-winning singer wore a form-fitting, feathered and glittering gown before switching into a more casual outfit: black jeans with colourful detailing and a Stevie Nicks T-shirt. Throughout the evening, she belted out fan favourites and shared personal stories behind the music.

Clarkson had previously told Today that the entire show would be live, with no instrumental tracks or backing tracks, a nod to old-school musicianship. “It just feels amazing in the studio, so we wanted to bring that into the setting for everybody,” she said.

The residency follows her previous run at Planet Hollywood and is scheduled to continue through July and August, with a return set for November. However, the excitement around her music comeback comes amid growing speculation about the future of The Kelly Clarkson Show, as her NBC contract nears its 2026 end and reports suggest she may walk away.
