Several villages were inundated following a further rise in water level in the River Indus at Guddu Barrage in Kashmore following heavy monsoon showers in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The water level in the river at Guddu rose by 13,212 cusecs during the last 24 hours. ccording to the Control Room, the river continues to be in low flood at Guddu.
The inflow of water at the site has been recorded at over 342,000 cusecs while the outflow at over 3,5000 cusecs. And despite the fact that the district administration was put on high alert, still no step has been taken to evacuate the people stranded in floodwater.
The Control Room has said that the water level in the river at Guddu is likely to go up further.
On the other hand, the River Indus at Chashma is in medium flood while it is in low flood at Tarbela, Kalabagh, Taunsa and Guddu.
Similarly, there is a flood in the streams and nullahs in Rajanpur, while the situation is no different in Mianwali where, too, the administration has been put on high alert.
During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall was recorded in Lahore, while heavy rain in Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur and Tharparkar.
Heavy rains forecast
Meanwhile, the Met Office has predicted that heavy rains will lash different parts of the country until July 17 due to which there are fears of deluge in the streams of KP, Murree, Galyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and also of landslides.
It has said that torrential rains will result in flooding in the streams and nullahs of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, cities in north-east and central Punjab, namely Sialkot, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad and Sargodha, and Kashmir.
The Met Office has issued a similar warning for several cities in KP, including Nowshera, Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, Kohistan and Abbottabad.
