A group of 60 Members of Parliament from the Labour Party has called on the British government to immediately recognise Palestine as an independent state and support humanitarian relief efforts in Gaza, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to British media reports, the MPs addressed a letter to Foreign Secretary David Lammy, urging the UK to reaffirm its commitment to a two-state solution and officially acknowledge Palestine as a separate sovereign state.
The letter emphasises that the recognition of Palestine is a crucial step toward achieving long-term peace and justice in the region.
The lawmakers also appealed to the government to support humanitarian assistance in Gaza through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
The demand comes at a time when international pressure is building for governments around the world to take a firm stance in addressing the Palestinian crisis.
