The Balochistan government has introduced an electronic domicile and local certificate system for the first time in the province as part of its efforts to digitise public services, officials said.
A formal notification has been issued for the launch of the e-domicile and e-local certificate system, Assistant to the Chief Minister for Political and Media Affairs Shahid Rind said in a statement.
Rind said the initiative had been launched on the instructions of Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti to make the entire process of issuing domicile and local certificates digital.
Under the new system, citizens will be able to submit applications from anywhere in Pakistan through NADRA centres, deputy commissioners' offices and the Pak ID platform, he said.
Rind said the digital system would simplify the application process by reducing delays, eliminating unnecessary office visits and curbing the role of middlemen.
He added that the new mechanism would also help prevent the issuance of fake domicile and local certificates through a secure digital verification process.
According to Rind, the e-domicile system has been designed to ensure the protection and accuracy of citizens' data while providing government institutions with a reliable and secure verification system.
He said the initiative was part of the provincial government's broader programme to modernise public services through the use of technology.
"The Balochistan government is taking practical steps to transform public services into a modern, transparent and digital system," Rind said.
Officials said the introduction of the e-domicile and e-local certificate system is expected to improve service delivery, enhance transparency and make the issuance of official documents more accessible for residents across the province.
