Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, the provincial government has achieved yet another milestone as cotton has been sown over 4.6 million acres of land in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
This was disclosed at a meeting presided over by the chief minister on Tuesday.
Secretary agriculture, on the occasion, briefed the meeting about the land brought under cultivation and demand and supply of the urea fertilizer.
He told the meeting that the target set for cotton growth in Sargodha, Sahiwal and Faisalabad had been met 100 per cent.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Naqvi appreciated the performance of the agriculture department as well as the field staff.
He expressed the resolve to ensure the provision of urea fertilizers to the farmers. “The Punjab government will release funds for the purpose,” he said, and added that interests of the cotton growers would be protected at all costs.
“By the grace of The Almighty Allah, this time there has been a substantial increase in the land over which cotton has been grown,” he said.
Planning and Development Board chairman, secretary agriculture, secretary finance, secretary information and other concerned officials attended the meeting.
