Dua Lipa has shared her excitement about starting a family with fiancé Callum Turner, revealing she would “love” to have children one day. The 29-year-old pop star, who turns 30 in August, publicly addressed her engagement for the first time since the British actor, 35, proposed.
In a candid interview with British Vogue, where she graced the cover in a pale pink bra showcasing her signature glam style, Dua opened up about her future family plans and the challenges of balancing motherhood with a demanding music career.
“I’d love to have kids one day,” she said. “But it’s always that question of: when is the right time? How would it work with touring? How much time would I need to take off? I think it’s just one of those things that will happen when it happens. I love kids, but there’s so much more to raising them than just loving them.”
Confirming the engagement, she added, “Yeah, we’re engaged. It’s very exciting. The idea of growing old together, of choosing to be best friends forever—it's such a special feeling.”
Rumors of their engagement began circulating late last year, and Dua has since been seen sporting a dazzling diamond ring. She admitted she's “obsessed” with the ring and touched on how meaningful it felt. “It’s nice to know the person you’re going to spend your life with knows you so well,” she said.
Though wedding plans are still in the early stages, Dua revealed she and Callum are prioritizing their professional commitments—her ongoing tour and his filming schedule—before tying the knot. “I want to finish my tour, Callum’s shooting, so we’re just enjoying this period,” she said. “I’ve never really thought about weddings or dreamt of what kind of bride I’d be. But suddenly I’m like, ‘Oh, what would I wear?’”
Dua and Callum were first romantically linked in January 2024 and reportedly got engaged over Christmas. Reflecting on their relationship, Dua described several “Sliding Doors moments,” where their paths nearly crossed before they officially met. They were eventually introduced at the River Cafe in London, and a year later, a chance encounter at a dinner in Los Angeles brought them together again.
“I remember thinking, ‘Oh, it’s that really hot guy from the River Cafe,’” she laughed. During their conversation, they realized they were both reading the same novel—Trust by Hernan Diaz. Asked if she believes their relationship was destined, Dua responded without hesitation: “One thousand percent.”
Before making their relationship public, the Dance the Night singer had been open about rebuilding her confidence after difficult past relationships. Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 during the promotion of her album Radical Optimism, she reflected on her emotional growth.
“In terms of relationships, I needed to get to this place to find what I really needed,” she said. “You have to be in the act of forgiveness, of growing and learning, and being okay with the past in order to move forward.”
She described the track Happy for You as a reflection of that personal journey. “With every relationship, you learn more about yourself—what hurts you, what you expect, and what you’re ready to give. I’ve had relationships where I felt not good enough, and I lost my confidence. I had to find that again.”
Now, she says she’s more aware of her “non-negotiables,” a clarity she’s found both in love and in friendships. “It’s not just about the right person,” she explained. “It’s about the right relationship.”
