Noted playwright and screenwriter Khalilur Rehman Qamar has hinted at stepping back from his long-standing collaboration with superstar Humayun Saeed.

Speaking on a talk show, Khalil said that while Saeed has been a consistent presence in his back-to-back hits such as Mere Paas Tum Ho, Punjab Nahi Jaungi, London Nahi Jaunga, and Gentleman, their partnership may not continue in the same way moving forward.

“Meri kampain tang rahi hain,” Khalil quipped in response to a question, suggesting creative exhaustion or a shift in direction. He added that although they (he and Humayun) are currently working together on Main Manto Nahin Hoon, future collaborations may be less frequent.

Khalil also reflected on his personal journey, sharing that despite being a capable economist and speaker, he chose to confine himself to writing.

Paying tribute to former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, he called him a “great leader” and expressed sorrow over the decline of cricket and other sectors in Pakistan.

On women’s rights, Khalil reiterated his often controversial stance: “No one respects women more than I do — but they must be women,” emphasizing his belief in traditional societal norms.

He urged the youth to become ‘true men who are ready to shoulder the country’s responsibilities’.

With a career spanning decades, Khalilur Rehman Qamar is widely known for his bold storytelling, sharp dialogue, and unapologetically strong views on social and cultural matters.

His works often explore themes of love, betrayal, honor, and morality, making him one of the most talked-about figures in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.

Despite consistent criticism, he remains respected for his command over language and emotionally charged narratives.
