Superstar Beyoncé Knowles-Carter surprised fans in North London on Thursday with a heartfelt onstage tribute to her twin children, Sir and Rumi Carter, during the latest stop of her blockbuster Cowboy Carter World Tour.
While performing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, part of her $168.5 million-grossing, 32-date tour, the 43-year-old music icon paused to mark the twins’ eighth birthday, delivering a rare public statement about her son Sir, who is typically kept out of the spotlight.
In fan-captured footage posted to X, Beyoncé asked the crowd to join her in celebrating the occasion.
"Everybody say happy birthday, Rumi!" she said, as her eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, gently touched Rumi’s chin on stage during the three-hour, 35-song set.
Moments later, the 35-time Grammy winner added, "Say happy birthday, Sir! Mommy loves you," as Rumi embraced her.
The touching moment was a rare glimpse into the private family life of Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z.
While Blue Ivy continues to join her mother as a backup dancer, Rumi has also been making regular appearances onstage since the tour kicked off in April at SoFi Stadium in California.
Last year, Rumi made her musical debut on the track Protector from Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter album, asking sweetly, “Mom, can I hear the lullaby please?”
In contrast, little is known about Sir Carter. Beyoncé and Jay-Z have kept details about their son largely private, with Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, describing him as “very quiet” and more interested in numbers than fashion.
The Cowboy Carter tour marks a major chapter in Beyoncé’s career, with the album becoming her eighth consecutive No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and making history as the first album by a Black woman to top the Top Country Albums chart.
