Senate, National Assembly passes resolution slamming Israeli attacks on Iran: President, PM urge international community to act to stop the conflict

Pakistan political leaders demonstrated rare unity when they expressed unity in Parliament to strongly condemn the Israeli aggression against brotherly Islamic country of Iran, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Lawmakers in both houses of the Parliament – Senate and the National Assembly – unanimously passed separate resolutions condemning Israeli aggression against Iran.

The resolution in the Senate was moved by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar saying the House stands resolute with Iranian brethren and supports their right to defend themselves against Israeli aggression.

It noted that Israeli attack is a blatant violation of fundamental principles of the United Nations and all international norms, and has put peace and security in the region and beyond in grave danger. 

The resolution unequivocally condemned Israel’s heinous crimes against Muslim Ummah especially against brotherly nations of Palestine and Iran. 

The resolution mentioned that over the years, Israel has been source of countless deaths of Muslims around the world particularly in occupied Palestine.

It said the world and Muslim Ummah are witnessing the slaughter of innocent children and civilians in Gaza for last two years on an unimaginable scale.

The resolution expressed concern over the inaction of Muslim world against this genocide, which has now led Israel to attack another sovereign Muslim state Iran.  

The Senate has commenced discussion on the budget for the next fiscal year.

Leader of the Opposition Syed Shibli Faraz opened the debate.

The Leader of the Opposition said the issue of circular debt in power sector be addressed.

He emphasized that more funds should have been allocated in the budget for construction of dams.        

Syed Shibli Faraz criticized the expanded powers given to the Federal Board of Revenue, saying they will affect ease of doing business and will hinder investment prospects.   

He said the privileged class is being facilitated, while unemployment and poverty continue to surge.

He recommended that employment opportunities be increased.

Taking floor of the House, Irfan-ul-Haque Siddiqui proposed that the budget for higher education should be increased.

He said institutes like Pakistan Academy of Letters, Urdu Science Board and others should be developed and reformed. 

Senator Shahadat Awan recommended that rural development be prioritized in the budget.

He said budgetary allocation for K-IV project, Karachi and Hyderabad-Sukkur motorway should be increased.

Shahadat Awan also called for increasing allocation for health, education and environment protection.

The Senate today unanimously passed “The Societies Registration (Amendment) Bill, 2025”.

The bill was moved by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar.

Later, the House was adjourned to meet again on Monday at 3 pm.

NA passes unanimous resolution

Earlier, the National Assembly passed a unanimous resolution strongly condemning the unjustified and illegitimate aggression by Israel against the brotherly Islamic Republic of Iran.

The resolution said that the attack has caused grave loss of lives and property to the Iranian People.

The resolution tabled by PPP Syed Naveed Qamar said “This House notes with utter disgust and dismay that the strikes carried in the dark hours of June 13, 2025 is not only a serious violation of the sovereignty and integrity of a United Nations Member state but it also clearly contravenes the fundamental principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.

This House warns that such continued blatant acts of aggression by Israel have brought not only the Middle East but the entire world into serious dangers, the consequence of which shall entirely rest on Israel.
The resolution further said, Iran has a right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

The House reiterates that Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with the Government, Parliament and the people of the Islamic Iran and prays for those who lost their lives in this attack.

The House called upon the government to immediately call for a meeting of the UN Security Council and the OIC to discuss, condemn and bring an immediate halt to the aggression in Iran.

Earlier, lawmakers from the government and treasury benches in the National Assembly raised a united voice against Israel’s aggression towards Iran and urged the international community to intervene and help de-escalate the situation.
Speaking on the floor of the House, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain said Israel’s acts of aggression were a grave threat to global peace.
“After brutal attacks on Palestine, Israel has now targeted Iran, in a blatant violation of international law,” he said. Expressing solidarity with the Iranian people, he affirmed that the entire Pakistani nation and its Parliament stood with Iran.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan also strongly condemned the Israeli strikes, calling Israel a threat to regional stability. He denounced the destruction of schools, universities, and hospitals in Palestine and criticized the silence of the global community. “The world is watching in silence as war crimes are being committed,” he said, urging the Government of Pakistan and the United Nations to take decisive action.
Former Prime Minister and senior PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf lauded Parliament for passing a unanimous resolution condemning Israel but emphasized that resolutions alone were not enough. He called on the Muslim Ummah, the United Nations, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take practical steps to halt Israeli aggression and support Iran.
Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) Chairman Sahibzada Hamid Raza labelled Israel a terrorist state, urging that international legal proceedings be initiated against the Israeli Prime Minister at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for crimes against humanity.
MQM MNA Syed Hafeezuddin reiterated support for Iran and condemned Israel for its continuous targeting of innocent civilians, asserting that Pakistan must back Iran at all forums.
Engineer Mohammad Usman Badaini declared that Pakistan has always stood by oppressed people, stressing that unity among Muslim countries would prevent such acts of aggression in the future.
Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan (MWMP) leader Hameed Hussain praised the National Assembly’s unanimous stance, stating that an attack on Iran is an attack on the sovereignty of all Muslim nations.
He reiterated that the people of Pakistan are aligned with the oppressed and urged the global community to act against state-sponsored violence.
Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled stance on the Palestine issue, stating that Pakistan does not recognize Israel as a legitimate state and considers it a terrorist entity.

President, PM slam Israeli attacks

President Asif Ali Zardari has strongly condemned the blatant Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In a statement President Zardari said Israeli military strikes are a flagrant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iran, and amount to total disregard of the UN Charter and fundamental principles of international law.

The President conveyed his deepest sympathies to the brotherly people of Iran on the loss of lives in this attack. He also urged the international community and the United Nations to hold the aggressor accountable and take immediate action to prevent the situation from further escalation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the Israeli attacks on Iran. In his message on social media website “X” posted on Friday, the Prime Minister said “I condemned Israel attacks on Iran in strongest words and want to extend my heartfelt grief and sorrow to the families of those Iranian people who lost their lives in Israeli attacks.”

The Prime Minister expressed the fear that Israeli attacks on Iran will further destabilize the region. He urged the international community to immediately take measures to halt the Israeli aggression against Iran which will further cause loss to regional and international peace.

In a post uploaded on X platform on Friday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar strongly condemned the unjustified Israeli attacks on Islamic Republic of Iran which are a brazen violation of Iran’s sovereignty.

Ishaq Dari said “This abhorrent action has shaken foundations of international law as well as conscience of humanity; and gravely undermines regional stability and international security.”

Pakistan stands in solidarity with the government and the people of Iran, he added.

Bilawal condemns Israeli strikes

PPPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari strongly condemned Israel’s unprovoked attack on Iran, terming it a grave threat to regional stability.

In a tweet, Bilawal Bhutto expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of life caused by the strike and extended his heartfelt condolences to the Iranian people during this difficult time.

“I strongly condemn Israel’s unprovoked attack on Iran, which has resulted in tragic loss of life and poses a grave threat to regional stability,” he said.

Calling for urgent international intervention, he urged the United Nations and all responsible nations to work collectively to de-escalate tensions and uphold international law, so that peace and security may prevail over aggression and conflict.

Foreign Office statement

In a separate statement released in Islamabad on Friday, the Foreign Office said “The Israeli military strikes violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran and clearly contravene the UN Charter and fundamental principles of international law. Iran has the right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter.”

The statement said “Pakistan stands in resolute solidarity with the people of Iran and unequivocally denounces these blatant provocations, which constitute a grave danger and a serious threat to the peace, security, and stability of the entire region and beyond, with serious implications.”

“The international community and the United Nations bear responsibility to uphold international law, stop this aggression immediately and hold the aggressor accountable for its actions,” the Foreign Office maintained.
