Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani has announced that the state funeral ceremony for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been postponed, with the event now expected to take place in late June or early July, 24NewsHD TV reported.
According to foreign media reports, the funeral rites are likely to be held during the second ten days of Muharram, a period that falls between June 26 and July 5.
The development has fueled renewed discussion over the timing of the ceremony, as earlier reports had suggested that it would be held at the beginning of Muharram.
Zakani said the schedule was revised to allow authorities additional time to finalize arrangements and address security requirements associated with the event.
