Waheed Lala breaks silence on Bushra Ansari's reaction to his mimicry

Mimicry artist and comedian Waheed Lala, has shared his response to Bushra Ansari's criticism of his mimicry in an  interview.

Addressing the matter during an appearance, Waheed Lala revealed that he never personally received a phone call from Bushra Ansari regarding the issue and does not even have her contact information.

When asked about her reaction, Waheed Khan believed Bushra's response was natural.

According to Waheed, many people have performed impressions of Bushra Ansari in the past, but most of those performers were women.

He admitted that he was surprised by some of the remarks associated with the controversy, particularly references to his gender expression and identity.

Waheed pointed out that Bushra Ansari herself has spent decades performing a wide variety of characters and comedic portrayals throughout her career.

For that reason, he said he did not expect the discussion to take the direction it eventually did.

Rather than responding with anger, Waheed used the opportunity to raise a broader question about acceptance and respect.

"I didn't feel bad about what Bushra Apa said," he explained. "But if someone is called transgender, does that make them any less human?"

Waheed also made it clear that he continues to hold Bushra Ansari in the highest regard.

Calling her a legend and an asset to Pakistan, he acknowledged her immense contributions to the entertainment industry and mentioned that his respect for her remains unchanged.

The controversy began when Waheed Lala's impersonation of Bushra Ansari gained widespread attention on social media.

Many viewers online criticised it and Bushra herself reportedly did not appreciate the portrayal.
