A noted journalist, Hamid Mir, has tweeted a video showing Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani reading out instructions on how to cast a vote. Seven votes were declared ‘invalid’ because the stamp was put in the box bearing candidate’s name.

A total of 98 senators exercised their right to vote and Sanjrani of the ruling party got 48 votes while Yousaf Raza Gilani 42 and seven votes were rejected. All the seven votes were in favour of joint opposition candidate Gilani who lost the seat to Sanjrani.
