Federal Interior and Narcotics Control Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the FIA headquarters. This was his third visit in a day to a public office where the FIA DG welcomed him. The minister chaired a meeting and FIA officials briefed him about the institutional affairs.

He issued directives to clear the matter of all the pending promotions within a month, saying: “Pending promotion cases should be disposed of within 30 days to encourage officers. Promotions have been done in every department in Punjab and the same be given to eligible employees of FIA.”

He stressed: “Corruption will not be tolerated. To make the FIA a world-class department, there will be a zero-tolerance policy against corruption. The FIA is an important institution of national security and safety. It has to be upgraded and brought to par with international standards.

He added: “The institution's efficiency will be proved when the big fish are caught. Through effective measures, the mafia dealing in counterfeit medicines will also have to be nailed. The FIA will also have to play a role in preventing power pilferage.

 “Countering human trafficking is also extremely important,” he said and asked for the report on the action over the Greece boat disaster that killed dozens of Pakistani youth and left a trail of devastation.

He issued directives to devise a comprehensive strategy to curb dollar smuggling.  The minister said that the performance of the officers posted in different countries should also be reviewed, adding that departure and arrival from the country should also be stopped on fake documents.

“The condition of police stations will also have to be improved. All resources should be utilized to improve public service delivery,” he emphasized.
