Interior Minister says number of Islamabad entry points will be reduced from 109 to 25: Strict monitorign of police pickets and entry points must be ensured

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered the concerned officials to take effective measures for making the Islamabad’s Red Zone practically functional, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad on Friday during which important decisions were taken regarding improving law and order situation in the federal capital and the civic facilities, Mohsin Naqvi directed to officers to frame an operational strategy to make the Red Zone full functional.

The number of entry points in Islamabad will be reduced from 109 to 25, the minister said and added in order to make security foolproof strict monitoring of the checkposts and entry points should be ensured.

The interior minister said that police pickets should not be erected for the sake of just pickets, their true utility should be demonstrated.

He directed to focus on immediate removal of encroachments on major arteries of Islamabad and the staff will be fully supported for the federal capital’s development and law enforcement.

He said that assistant commissioners will be responsible for keeping the capital clean. 

Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Inspector-General of Police Islamabad, Deputy Commissioner, DIGs, SSPs, SPs, and all assistant commissioners attended the meeting.
