Federal Minister for Interior Affairs Rana Sanaullah has alleged that Imran Khan is not a political leader but a rabble-rouser whose job is to spread chaos and anarchy, the 24NewsHD TV channel reports.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Saturday, he said that only 40 to 45 thousand people came out to protest for Imran Khan in the country. “It cannot be called a public reaction, it is a trend of terrorists trained by Fitna Imran Khan,” he claimed.
Federal Interior Minister maintained that it is a matter of concern and sorrow for the entire nation that a man who looted Rs 60 billion of the national kitty had got relaxation by the apex court.
Sanaullah said the PTI chief’s only objective is to spread chaos and anarchy in the country.
He also held the Khan-led party’s workers and supporters responsible for damaging public properties and storming military installations across the country during the countrywide violent protests.
“The government will bring these ‘gangs’ to the book. They [miscreants] will be identified through CCTV footage cameras and rounded up one by one,” he added.
He reiterated the PML-N’s stance of taking exception to the Supreme Court’s “relief” for PTI chief Imran Khan, saying that no one else was given such relief in Pakistan’s judicial and constitutional history.
“After that, how can high courts and district courts dare to do anything then,” he said, adding that Imran was given whatever he asked for.
Rana Sanaullah maintained that the protesters coming out after PTI chief Imran Khan’s arrest was not the “nation’s reaction”. In fact, he claims, the protesters “were trained terrorists and miscreants”.
The minister alleges that Imran was training them for the past year.
The Interior Minister said protests were staged at 12 spots in Islamabad on May 9, during which 650 to 700 people participated.
Moreover, he added, during protests staged at 221 spots in Punjab on May 9 and 15,000 to 18,000 people participated.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said, protests were staged at 126 spots, and 19,000-22,000 people participated.
On the second day of protests, 1,900 participated in demonstrations in Islamabad, 2,200 in Punjab, and 13,000 in KP, he added.
Sharing the numbers for the third of protests, he said 515 people participated in Islamabad, 5,000-6,000 in KP and 800-1,000 in Punjab.
Referring to protests that followed the PTI chief’s arrest earlier this week, Rana Sanaullah has said it was not the work of a political party or workers.
Instead, “it is a specific mindset” that centers on the culture of “hatred” and “vandalism”, he says.
Rana Sanaullah claimed PTI chief Imran Khan’s objective is to “spread anarchy and chaos” in the country and his entire struggle is directed towards achieving this purpose.
“Since 2014, he has created a cult,” the minister says.
He also took a jibe at the courts for granting relief to the PTI chief saying the situation would have been brought under control if Khan was not granted relief.
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said the government was not left with any option but to slap a ban on the PTI.
If he was welcomed by the CJP, what authority did lower courts leave with then, he asked. “Imran Khan asked the court to grant him bail in cases that were even yet to be lodged,” he added.
Sanaullah said the country would soon know when details come out on how public money had been exploited for favoritism. “Mr Khan has been exposed now and the nation should know him properly,” he added.
