The plea submitted by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur seeking the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan on parole will be heard tomorrow, despite multiple objections raised by the Registrar’s Office.
The application, aimed at securing parole for the PTI founder due to the current political climate, was scheduled for hearing before Acting Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar. However, the Registrar’s Office has flagged several procedural flaws in the filing.
Key objections include the absence of the PTI founder as a party to the petition, as well as the failure to name the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the case—despite the parole request being made for a convict in a NAB case. The petition was also not filed by the individual concerned, which the Registrar’s Office said undermines its legal standing.
Furthermore, the Registrar noted that the application lacked complete addresses for the parties involved, adding to its procedural shortcomings. The office directed that these objections be removed and the plea re-filed, yet the application has nonetheless been listed for hearing with the objections intact.
