The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has significantly reduced the Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) prices for the month of May 2025, in accordance with federal government policy guidelines.
According to the official notification issued by OGRA, the RLNG price for SSGC (Sui Southern Gas Company) has been decreased by $1.7168 per MMBtu, bringing the rate down from $12.5910 in April to $10.8742 in May — a reduction of 13.64%.
Similarly, for SNGPL (Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited), the RLNG price has been lowered by $1.6864 per MMBtu, reducing the distribution rate from $13.4789 to $11.7925 — a 12.51% decrease.
OGRA attributes the price cut to a reduction in the Delivered Ex-Ship (DES) price of imported RLNG. The transmission rates for both companies also saw notable decreases, with SNGPL’s dropping from $12.5895 to $11.0257, and SSGC’s from $11.2718 to $9.7367 per MMBtu.
Energy experts have welcomed the move, suggesting that the drop in RLNG prices will translate into lower electricity generation costs and reduce the burden on consumers, particularly during the high-demand summer months.
