Four unidentified motorcyclists opened fire at the vehicle of an SHO in Dera Ismael Khan near Hayat Mines late Monday night, which was on routine patrolling, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
However, the assailants disappeared in a nearby jungle, leaving their motorcycles behind, after the cops returned fire.
Police impounded two motorcycles and launched a search operation in the area for the arrest of the attackers.
One shot dead in Bannu
One person was killed while another was injured when unidentified persons opened fire in the jurisdiction of Mundan police station in Bannu.
Both the deceased as well as the injured were returning from a marriage function.
The deceased was identified as Raj Allah.
Police said there was no enmity between the attackers and victims.
