Pakistani actress Zara Noor Abbas has found herself at the center of a social media storm after recreating a look inspired by Indian actress Kangana Ranaut, with many netizens heavily criticizing her online.
Taking to Instagram, she recently shared a carousel of pictures with the caption, “No propaganda,” a line that quickly grabbed attention and sparked debate across social media platforms.
The caption appeared to hint at the satirical project she was working on, where serious political narratives were being turned into comedy content.
What grabbed the internet’s attention most was the fact that Zara held a mobile phone displaying Kangana Ranaut in her character, clearly showing the inspiration behind her styling.

In the viral photo, Zara Noor Abbas was seen dressed in a cream-colored silk saree, styled the look with a heavy gold choker necklace, along with a vintage-style round nose pin. Her retro side parted curls and small red bindi completed the classic look.
One of the pictures also featured Zara standing alongside Shafaat Ali and Faisal Qureshi. The backdrop carried the logo of “Proper Gainda Films,” a comedy parody platform created by Shafaat Ali.
The project is an online comedy skit series that takes inspiration from political tensions and over dramatic cross-border story lines.

Zara Noor Abbas appeared as a guest star in one of the parody episodes titled “Casting Chaos.”
Earlier, the actress had also shared a behind-the-scenes video from the same project on Instagram. In the clip, she appeared in the same makeover while filming for the comedy episode.
The caption of the video read, “Proper Gainda Films Presents: Episode 07 – Casting Chaos. Selection of the hero is more important than the mission itself. Exclusive footage from Proper Gainda Films HQ. Exclusive: Inside Story. Why So Serious? Heavy topics, served light.”
However, despite the comedic angle, many social media users reacted negatively to Zara’s transformation
The comments section soon filled with criticism, with several users questioning why she chose to recreate the look of Kangana Ranaut, who has often remained controversial because of her political opinions and statements regarding Muslims.
One user wrote: Copy karna kisi achay insan ko kro. Aysi orat ko q krhi. Jo musalmano ky itna against hai. Balky wo humsy nafrat krti. Ya tu ap oski pic post na krti."
(Zara wanted to copy someone, she should have chosen a “better person” instead of someone “who hates Muslims).
Another user commented Jitni insult hojaye inko indian bn'na hai jahil. Which translate to No matter how much they get insulted, these ignorant people still want to become Indian.
Some users also objected to the styling itself, calling it ‘Or jis kangana jaisa look banaya hai tumne ya uske jesi lag rahi ho me bata du wahi sabse badi fitna hai musalmano ke khilaf zeher dalne wali’.
(And the Kangana whose look you copied or whom you are looking like, let me tell you she is the biggest troublemaker who spews venom against Muslims).
A long comment from a follower claimed that Kyu khudko itna bura kar rahi ho kafiro jaisa look bana kar musalman ho Musalman raho kyu ye adha tedha look bana kar khudko pretty ya cool samjh rahi ho magar ye hamara culture nahi hai me india se hu or yaha muslim culture se log nafrat karte hai hamara libas hamara style ye log nahi banate na pehente hai na look rakhte hai to hum kyu inko promote kare

This lengthy comment urged Zara Noor Abbas to avoid promoting what the user described as “Hindu culture” and asked her to stick to traditional Pakistani dressing.
As the debate continued online, Zara Noor Abbas chose to not directly respond to the criticism.
