Lahore’s women weightlifters put up an impressive performance in the Punjab team selection trials for the upcoming 35th National Games 2025, clinching top spots in three categories, while Faisalabad and Gujranwala athletes secured two wins each.
According to Pakistan Weightlifting Federation media coordinator Sohail Javed Butt, the trials were held at the Elite Training Center, organized under the supervision of Director General Sports Board Punjab Afzal Chaudhry.
The selected team will represent Punjab in the National Games scheduled from December 6 to 13, 2025, in Karachi.
Over 20 female weightlifters from Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Sialkot took part in the trials.
The standout performers were Fatima Akram, who lifted 122 kg, and Amna Babar, who managed 120 kg, both achieving the highest lifts of the event.

86kg+: Zumar Mughal (Gujranwala), Tooba Khalid
Nuzhat Jabeen, Chairperson Pakistan Weightlifting Federation, and Abdul Sattar Rahi inaugurated the trials.
The event was officiated by Rashid Nadeem Butt, Anjum Roheel Butt, Kashif Ali, Abdullah Sohail Butt, Tariq Azam, Zaheer Akram, Hafiz Imran Azizi, Naila Maqsood Butt, Maryam Aqeel Butt, Aina Akbar, Muniba Imtiaz, and Bisma Jutt.
The men’s trials are scheduled for Thursday, with weigh-ins from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by competitions starting at 11 a.m.
