MSC MICOL finally docked at the Karachi Port’s South Asia Pakistan terminal on Monday, becoming the largest cargo ship to have docked at the port, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, who welcomed the crew of the ship, said that the arrival of the ship in Pakistan was a milestone in the country’s history.
He further said that Pakistan was an emerging shipping destination in the world.
The minister expressed the hope that the maritime sector would go on to become a strong basis of the country’s economy.
MSC MICOL is a 400-meter-long ship, with the capacity of 24,000 TEUS.
