Crackdown against fake medicines launched in Punjab

Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) issued a Rapid Product Alert on the request of Directorate of Drug Control, Punjab, against the sale of fake medicines in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

The Directorate of Drug Control Punjab detected 17 fake medicines of 18 batches in the market. These medicines are used for the treatment of stomach, throat, and fungal infections. 

The Directorate also impounded batches of fake medicines for the treatment of women's diseases, vomiting, and prostate.

DRAP said that fake tablets used for the treatment of pain and swelling in joints were also recovered from Punjab.

Punjab Drug Control also impounded fake medicines of allergy, neuropathy, and mental peace. These fake medicines were manufactured by using fake names of multinational companies with the addresses of Karachi, Lahore, and Faisalabad.
