Floods ruin South Punjab’s economy: Jahangir Tareen

Renowned businessman Jahangir Khan Tareen on Saturday said that recent floods have ruined economy of South Punjab, as all the communication systems are completely in disarray, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Jahangir Tareen expressed these views while talking with different delegations in Lodhran. Later, he left for Khanwah Ghulwan by helicopter.

On his arrival, he was warmly received by former tehsil nazim Irshad Abbas Ghullu and his brother Nadeem Abbas.

Heavy contingents of police were present to perform their security duty. Jahangir Khan Tareen held talks with the people of flood-affected areas.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lodhran Pilot Project (LPP) Dr. Abdul Saboor, briefed him about the flood-affected people.

Jahangir Tareen said, “This is our responsibility to correct the derailed system”. He assured them of all possible relief and support.

He said that the rehabilitation of flood-affected people is a challenge for the government. He said that there are chances of more flooding in the area. 

Jahangir Tareen said that “we should take measures to upgrade the system”. Jahangir Khan Tareen said that prior information about flooding will be provided in LPP.

He said, “I forbid politics, I need no votes and will not ask for anyone to vote”. Jahangir Tareen said that “my team supervised relief work in Khyber Pukhtonkhwa (KP).

Lodhran is my district, and the people of their constituencies are my people. We distributed rations among three thousand families in Lodhran.

Jahangir Khan Tareen said that “we rescued four thousand flood-affected people to safe locations”.
