Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and senior PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique on Saturday reacted to the letter written by the Supreme Court to the Interior Ministry for the security of retired judges.

Two days ago, in a letter written by the registrar of the Supreme Court to the Interior Ministry with the approval of the Chief Justice of Pakistan, it was said that in view of the current security situation in the country, each retired judge should be provided three police personnel for security.

The letter written by the SC registrar said that widows of the judges who have passed away should be provided with security of three police personnel so that their safety can be ensured. The security personnel will be under the concerned DPO and they will also be supervised by him.

After the news of the letter written by the SC registrar to the Ministry of Interior came to light, senior PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique shared a copy of the letter on social media and wrote that if the letter is true, this order of the Supreme Court is against the requirements of justice, equality and protection of the common man.

Saad Rafique wrote in his post that everyone should know very well that the backs of Pakistanis have become bent while carrying the burden of fulfilling the endless desires and privileges of politicians, generals and judges. The former federal minister said that this poor state is no longer capable of supporting the aristocracy of this country: this cycle must stop now.

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, responding to Saad Rafique’s post, wrote that politicians also see bad days, but judges never do. He said that politicians spend lives in two rooms of the Parliament Lodges, which were renovated 25 years ago at government expense.

The federal minister said their salary was Rs275,000 until three months ago and now it has been increased to Rs550,000 per month, but the media only holds politicians accountable. There is an unholy alliance of the media with everyone else, he added.

Khawaja Asif said that politicians' security is zero, but if judges are given tanks for security, they will ask for more than one.
