A Lahore man, Azam Butt Saturday filed a petition in the High Court to prevent minors from using social media, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In the petition, where the Federal Government, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and other concerned institutions were made parties, it was stated that the children are exposed to inappropriate content using Facebook and TikTok and it has a very negative impact on their education.
It was also stated that due to these platforms exposing minors to such content, they are being involved in immoral activities.
The petitioner stated that there is a ban imposed on such platforms for the minors in developed countries but PTA has not yet taken any such action putting the children’s future at risk.
It was requested that the court orders legislation banning the use of Facebook and TikTok for minors.
