The patient's condition deteriorated rapidly, and he was admitted to a private hospital on September 11.
Laboratory results confirmed the presence of Naegleria fowleri following his death on September 12.
Medical experts explained that Naegleria fowleri is an aggressive microorganism that attacks the brain, leading to severe neurological damage and almost always proving fatal.
They emphasized that early detection is extremely challenging, as the initial symptoms often mimic those of common illnesses, but the infection progresses rapidly once it reaches the central nervous system.
In light of the recent case, the Health Department has once again urged citizens to adopt strict precautionary measures.
Experts advised ensuring adequate chlorination of water tanks, using boiled or filtered water for nasal cleaning, and avoiding swimming in untreated or stagnant water sources.
