The upcoming Women's Blind Cricket World Cup, scheduled from November 11th to 25th, has been thrown into uncertainty due to the ongoing political and social turmoil in Nepal, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.
The World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) has called an emergency meeting on Monday to review the situation and assess its impact on the tournament’s arrangements.
The first-ever Women’s Blind Cricket World Cup is scheduled to take place from November 11 to 25 in India and Nepal jointly.
Under the hybrid model, Pakistan’s matches were slated to be played in Kathmandu.
However, given the instability in Nepal, concerns have grown about the feasibility of staging fixtures in the capital.
Syed Sultan Shah, President of the WBCC and the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC), confirmed that the council’s emergency session will deliberate on shifting Kathmandu matches to Sri Lanka if necessary.
He added that while the tournament schedule might remain unchanged, there is a possibility of altering the host nations to ensure smooth organization.
Shah further stated that the prevailing tensions in Nepal have made it increasingly unlikely that matches can take place in Kathmandu as originally planned.
