Expressing concern over the present economic indicators, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday that the government was going to take ‘drastic’ measures to make the country economically stronger, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Chairing the high-level meeting of his economic team in Islamabad, Shehbaz Sharif directed that a comprehensive package of economic reforms be prepared on an emergency basis.
The prime minister directed members of the team to ensure that financial condition of a common man was improved.
The prime minister also ordered the concerned officials to not only focus on improving the country’s economy but also take steps to overcome inflation so that the ordinary people did not suffer.
The prime minister said that the government was taking urgent measures to achieve the economic stability of the country. He asked the economic team to take all-out measures for the economic uplift of the common man.

The finance ministry gave detailed briefing to the prime minister who expressed his concerns over the worrisome economic indicators.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leaders including Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Ahsan Iqbal, Miftah Ismail, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Zubair Umar, Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Tariq Mahmood Pasha, Bilal Kiyani and relevant senior officers attended the meeting.
PM welcomes Sikh delegates
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday also welcomed the Sikh delegates visiting Pakistan on the eve of their joyous festival Baisakhi. “I welcome all the Sikh delegates visiting Pakistan on the occasion of Baisakhi,” he said in a tweet.
The prime minister said the Punjabi festival symbolised much more than merely the start of the harvesting season. “It is a sign of hope, renewal, and growth. Congratulations to all those celebrating this spring festival,” he said.

Over 2,000 Sikh pilgrims entered Pakistan on Tuesday from the Wagah border to attend the annual Baisakhi festival that started on Wednesday.
The main festival ceremony is being held at Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Hasanabdal on Thursday.
