The Punjab education department has uncovered significant discrepancies in student records across public schools, with more than 1.7 million entries found to be incomplete or incorrectly recorded, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
According to sources, these flaws are undermining the province's NADRA-verified Unique Student Identification (USID) system and hampering officials' ability to track enrolled children across the province.
Officials revealed that around 17% of students lack registered 'Child Registration Certificates' (commonly known as B-Forms) in the system, a critical requirement for authentication.
According to the School Education Department, inaccurate and missing data are hampering efforts to effectively track students, monitor enrolment, and ensure transparency in public education records.
In response, authorities have issued urgent directives to complete and correct all entries in the education management information system.
Lists of schools with identified discrepancies have been circulated at the district level, with headteachers instructed to address the gaps without delay.
School administrations have also been directed to ensure that students without B-Forms obtain the necessary documentation and have it promptly entered into the system.
The department set an April 30 deadline for all institutions to rectify and complete student records, warning that failure to comply could further disrupt the province’s data-driven education reforms.
