Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Tuesday participated in a meeting of the G-24, where he emphasized the need for coordinated global efforts to tackle mounting economic challenges.

Addressing the forum, the finance minister noted that the global economy remains under significant strain due to a series of continuous shocks. He pointed out that recent tensions in the Middle East have had a profound impact on energy supplies, fertilizer markets, and overall financial conditions.

Aurangzeb stressed the importance of reducing geopolitical tensions, safeguarding key maritime and energy routes, and working collectively toward sustainable peace to stabilize global markets.

During his address, the minister also expressed Pakistan’s support for the ongoing review of the design and terms of the International Monetary Fund program. He underscored the need for an early and comprehensive review of IMF surcharges to ease the financial burden on developing economies.

Highlighting development priorities, Aurangzeb called for enhanced cooperation with the World Bank, particularly in areas such as job-creating investments, infrastructure development, and innovative financial solutions.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to sustainable development, inclusion, and shared prosperity, the finance minister stressed the need for more effective international collaboration to address global economic challenges.
