Athar Waheed resigned on Tuesday as Lahore chief traffic officer (CTO) after serving for 14 months, during which he worked on improving the city’s traffic management system.

According to official details, Athar Waheed sent his resignation letter to the Punjab Police chief, citing personal reasons for his inability to continue in the role. “I cannot work as CTO Lahore due to personal reasons,” he stated in the letter addressed to the Punjab Police inspector general (IG).

Following his resignation, authorities have directed Athar Waheed to report to the Establishment Division. A formal notification regarding his transfer has been issued by the Chief Secretary Punjab.

Athar Waheed’s tenure as CTO Lahore was marked by efforts aimed at improving traffic flow and management across the provincial capital.

However, his tenure also saw a significant increase in traffic fines, which drew complaints from sections of the public who said enforcement had become excessive.
