Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said he will approach Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to seek permission regarding spectator attendance at PSL matches, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.
Speaking to reporters at National Stadium, Karachi, Naqvi said the decisions would be taken in line with the prevailing situation, stressing the need for a “balanced approach” while prioritising safety. “We will try to make moderate decisions according to the circumstances,” he said.
He added that all institutions, including the government and security leadership, were working towards maintaining peace, noting that both the prime minister and military leadership were making efforts to ensure stability.
“Holding the PSL in the present situation is a success for our forces,” he said.
On infrastructure, he confirmed that redevelopment work at Karachi’s National Stadium would begin after the PSL concludes.
Naqvi dismissed questions about stepping down, saying such matters should be left to “astrologers,” in a light-hearted remark.
He also reiterated that the PCB would continue striving to facilitate fans, but cautioned that difficult decisions may be required depending on evolving conditions.
